Preview: The Wii Shaft

Now we have all heard of the Classic Controller. The thing Nintendo gives us to play those SNES, TG-16, and Genesis games that are unplayable with out it. When I say unplayable, I either mean you have to have the controller, or the button configuration on the GC Controller/Wiimote is terrible, and feels uncomfortable in your hands. But the Classic controller remedies that...to an extent. It works great for most games, but if you are a true arcade gamer, you wish you had a joypad for Street Fighter, or King of Fighters. Well look no further, because Overline Gaming gives us....

The Wii Shaft

Now what exactly is The Wii Shaft. Its a joypad, that the company claims to be extreamly similar to a arcade joypad, with arcade sized buttons and a joy pad. Heres what the site says about the product.

We've had a lot of questions about the Shaft, so here are answers to the most common ones:

Q. Is The Shaft wired or Wireless?
A: The Shaft is Wired, in our experience, wireless controllers do not offer the response time required for fast-paced fighting games.

Q: Is The Shaft compatible with all Virtual Console Games?
A: Yes, we have tested The Shaft with games on all current VC Games. It works with Analog games like Mario Kart 64, and Digital games like Super SF2 Turbo

Q: How big is the Shaft?
A: The Shaft is an Arcade-Style Controller, so it is approximately 6 inches x 11 inches.
Q: The Joystick looks thin, is it built to last?
A: YES! We are commited to making the best joystick possible, the stick has a steel core for ultimate strength.

Q: Do you ship Worldwide?
A: Yes, we ship to most countries. Add a Shaft to your cart to get the shipping rate for your country.

Heres a Gametrailers video showing an interview with someone who works on the Wii Shaft.

This looks like a great product for you arcade and retro gamers. It looks like its around fourty dollars (US) and like its says above, they ship worldwide. Looks cool. Be sure to keep checking The United Gaming Convention for YOUR gaming news and updates.
