Rock Band Sells 3 Million Copies, and 10 Million DLC Songs

We have all heard of Rock Band. Face it. You can either love it or hate it, but there is no denying its success. And by these recent sales numbers, MTV Games, and Harmonix are laughing all the way to the bank. Ok that was uncalled for.

But what contributed to the success of Rock Band? The drums and mic? Or just the sheer amount of DLC that there is? I am thinking the DLC. I know of many people that keep going back online to buy the newest songs. And who can blame them? Unlike Guitar Hero 3, there are weekly updates for songs. EVERY week since the game launched. So like I said, laughing all the way to the bank...

Crash and Spyro are back!

Well any time one game has a new release the other has one too. That is what is going to happen with Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant, and The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. Both of these games are made by Sierra. And both of them look good. Yes, even the Spyro one. Here is what IGN had to say:

Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant

In Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant, a rejuvenated Neo Cortex is taking over the world one brain at a time! Cortex and N. Brio devise a new kind of evil – a text-messaging, do-anything device which controls both mutant and bandicoot minds. Armed with his quick-wits and lightening agility, Crash must free his friends, the titans and save the day!

"The Crash Bandicoot franchise has built a wide audience of loyal fans, appealing to both male and female gamers of all ages," said Al Simone, senior vice president, Global Marketing for Sierra Entertainment. "The Crash series remains one of the most recognizable franchises in our industry and we're excited to make this year's family-friendly title appear at the top of every gamer's wish list this holiday."

Key features in Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant include:

Mutant in your Pocket! - Not only does Crash gain the ability to control his enemies when he jacks them – now he can store his favorite monsters in his pocket, upgrade them and utilize their powers when they are most advantageous

"Free-Romping" World Design - Wumpa Island becomes a "free-romping" environment, allowing players to travel and explore through intersecting worlds, with different gameplay options available depending on what creature you've brought along for the ride
The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon

In the final chapter of the trilogy, players find Sypro teaming up with an unlikely ally - Cynder, his former enemy, to face his most challenging mission to date. As the Dark Master's (voiced by Mark Hamill) evil envelopes the world like a plague, Spyro must fulfill his destiny and unlock the true power of the purple dragon within him to stop the Dark Master in his tracks. The game introduces two never before seen elements into the Spyro universe: Spyro can now fly at any time and players can drop-in/drop-out with the new cooperative feature. The co-op feature allows players to have the option of completing the game as either Spyro or Cynder, giving them more freedom to explore Spyro's world in completely new ways. "Spyro has grown up a lot since his debut, and players are going to notice advanced gameplay, character design and story lines in Dawn of the Dragon," said Al Simone, senior vice president, Global Marketing for Sierra Entertainment. "The game takes some exciting twists and turns – fans of the series and newcomers alike will experience non-stop fun, a renewed sense of intensity and the type of challenging adventure only Spyro can overcome.

Rock Band/ Guitar Hero Stand

We all know that Rock Band/ Guitar Hero has taken over the gaming world. They are both so fun and addicting, people have trouble putting the games down. Literally. People have to prop them against tables, lay them against couches, and other places, because no one has guitar stands in their living rooms. Until now.

The stand is made of wood and can house up to four guitars on each side. It also has a flat tablelike wooden top, where you can put controllers. I personally like this design. It is made out of wood, so it matches with any room. So, for $55 this does not sound like a bad deal.

Guitar Hero 4 is going to be Rock Bandish...

Well its official. We all knew that Guitar Hero would have some major competition when Rock Band came out. I mean why just play Guitar, when you can play Drums, Bass, and sing too? It only makes sense. Now this is rumorish, but Activision has not confirmed more instruments for GH4, but an interview with the president of the company did in a May issue of a magazine. So it kind of makes sense...

Mushroom Rock Band Drum Pads

Well I like drums, and I like Mario. So what to do? Simply fuse the two together. Someone has done the unthinkable, fused the fun of rock band drums and the retro goodness that is Mario. What do you get. Four different colored 1-UP mushrooms for the drums. These look sweet. And best of all they are completely fan made. I am also sure these will work on the drums for any version of Rock Band for Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, and soon to come WII! These are on sale online, so get them while you can!

New Mercinaries 2 Trailer

Well about time. This is one game that I have been wanting for a LONG time. Ever since the first one, I have been hooked to the series. I still play the first one. Bu this trailer revels a lot. Our main character Mattias seems to be out for revenge. Although the reason is still unknown. This trailer seems to revel that there are actual cut scenes, and a more driven story mode, rather than running and choosing targets. But I am sure the open worldness of the game will not be affected from this. So sit back and watch the trailer. Oh, I also forgot to mention it comes out Aug. 31.
